PC Card Reader/Writer
![]() Digital Film readers are readily available wherever digital cameras are sold. Most of them connect to the computer via USB. The Dazzle reader shown here (Model DM-8000) is typical. Other good choices include the Zio! (now owned by Dazzle) and the Microtech CameraMate. One that's often found in the chain stores is the SanDisk ImageMate. It's inexpensive, but has a history of software issues, so we suggest you avoid that one if you can. When buying a digital film reader, make sure that you get once designed for CompactFlash. There are several different types of digital media used in cameras, and each one has a reader designed for it. Some readers can handle more than one type of media. All of them work by making the CompactFlash card appear to the computer as a hard disk drive. Some readers are made to handle many different types of media, and those are fine as long as CompactFlash is one of the types handled. |
