What maintenance is required for my machine?
After every 20-30 hours of operation, it's a good
idea to remove the needle plate and bobbin case. Clean out all the
lint that has accumulated under the bobbin case. In the center of the
hook basket (the round metal piece that the bobbin case sits on),
there is a hole with a wick in it. DO NOT PULL OUT THE WICK! Sometimes
people confuse it with lint. Put 1-3 drops of light sewing machine oil
on the wick, replace the bobbin case and needle plate. Do not use
3-in-1 oil or WD-40. Both are very sticky and can leave residue that
will cause problems.
All other maintenance must be done by your dealer. If you use the
machine 20 hours per week or less, your dealer should see it at least
once per year for cleaning and maintenance. For heavier use, your
dealer should see it twice or even 3 times per year. Keeping the
machine clean will greatly lengthen its life and prevent problems. |
