What's the story with the Digitizer "Garment" setting? No matter what I set it to, on every design it always comes up "Badges."

This is a major point of confusion for folks using Digitizer. The cause of this is that there is no setting for "garment." When you change the garment setting, you are actually changing the underlay of the selected parts of the design. The garment choices are simply listed alphabetically in the drop-down box, so it will *ALWAYS* come up with "Badge." That doesn't mean that your garment has been set to "Badge" - there is no such setting. It just means that Badge is the default choice.

If you want to actually see what happens when you change the garment type, do this:

  1. Start with an empty hoop (Freehand digitize).
  2. Pick the circle tool and draw a small circle.
  3. Click the select tool. If the circle doesn't turn turquoise, click on it.
  4. Set the zoom level high enough to see the zigzag underlay stitches.
  5. Change the garment type to knit with a high stretch, and notice what happens to the underlay.
  6. Changing the degree of stretchiness with the slider will reduce (sliding left) or increase (sliding right) the pull compensation of each selected object.

As installed, Digitizer defaults to a zigzag weave underlay, which is generally acceptable for most projects. At times when you want a full design, with extra lift under the stitches, a weave underlay is preferable. On knits, edge run is best.
