I've created a layout in EasyGigahoop using designs from a
CD-ROM. When I try to send it to the ATA PC Card attached to my
computer, I get an error message about a missing file. Why does this
happen? When you send a layout from EasyGigahoop
to either the MC10000 or to a PC Card, the program first constructs
temporary files containing the two combined designs for each side of
the Gigahoop. These temporary files are stored on the last drive used
to import designs into the layout. If that drive happens to be a
CD-ROM drive, the operation fails because a CD-ROM is a read-only
device that cannot be written on. The error message will reference the
temporary file name assigned by Windows, which only adds to the
confusion. There are 2 ways to resolve this problem:
- After completing your layout, import an additional design from
drive C. What design you import is irrelevant, because as soon as
you have finished importing it, you will delete it using the trash
can icon. The reason for this illogical maneuver is to establish
drive C as the last drive used. That causes the temporary
files to be written to C, which is not read-only, and
everything works as expected.
- Copy the designs you will be using from the CD-ROM onto your C
drive. Then import them from there. This solves the problem, but
wastes a bit of space. When you attempt to delete these files after
you have created your layout, you may be surprised to find that you
cannot because they are marked as "Read only." To delete them you
must right-click the file, or folder, choose Properties
and uncheck the "Read only" property.
