Digitizer 10000 installs with a number of Windows Dynamic
Link Libraries (DLLs). Some of them are quite old, and
do not work well with Windows ME, 2000 or XP. The symptoms may range
from not being able to start Digitizer to being unable to scan images
directly into Digitizer. We have developed a simple batch file which
"hides" the obsolete files so that Digitizer loads the newer versions
provided with Windows. Download it by
right clicking
here. Choose
Save Target As and save the file to your Desktop. Then
perform the following steps:
-
Restart your computer. This flushes out any obsolete
DLLs that might be running.
-
When the computer has finished restarting, find
scanfix on your desktop and double-click it.
-
Restart the computer again. Digitizer should then
work correctly.
Version 1.1 of Digitizer 10000 introduced patches to
fix problems of not being able run the program more than once under
Windows ME. The above fixes do not always work with Version 1.1, and
that version may still fail to open the program more than once under
Windows ME. A work-around for this problem is the press the
CTRL-ALT-DEL keys all at the same time to open the Windows
Task Manager. Locate the Janome task and end it. You should
then be able to start Digitizer again.
